Memorial Day services are planned for Monday, May 27, 2019, beginning at 8:55 a.m., at the Leelanau County Veterans' Memorial, Government Center Drive, Suttons Bay.
In the event of inclement weather, the service will be relocated to VFW Post 7731, 7475 E. Duck Lake Rd. (M-204), just east of Lake Leelanau.
The 2nd Annual Clean Water Symposium will be held on Wednesday, June 19 at The Leelanau School in Glen Arbor, from 10 am to 3 pm. Doors open at 9:30 am.
Cost is $20 per person which includes lunch and refreshments - pay at the door.

The Leelanau County Planning Commission is hosting a training on Thursday, June 6 from 4:00-8:30 pm in the Leelanau County Government Center (lower level) titled "Planning and Zoning Essentials". This session will be presented by Michigan Association of Planning.
The session is for planning commission members, Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) members, township/village elected officials, citizens interested in serving on a planning commission or a ZBA, as well as anyone else who may be interested. ALL ARE WELCOME!
The Leelanau County Planning & Community Development office is accepting bids for a Housing Rehabilitation Project in Lake Leelanau. The project involves new roof, replacement of windows and some siding, interior work, and lead based paint controls.
Interested contractors should contact the office at 231-256-9812 or email housing@co.leelanau.mi.us to obtain a copy of the bid specs. Sealed Bids are due by 12 Noon on Wednesday, May 22. All contractors must be licensed and insured.
Leelanau County is offering for auction two retired patrol vehicles, a pair of radar guns and a Bilco Door.

Leelanau County has housing funds available for rehabilitation of single-family owner-occupied homes.
Two (2) separate Loan programs are available for housing repairs:
a) Emergency Projects such as failing furnace, septic, well, dangerous or unhealthy conditions. The maximum project cost is $20,000 which includes repairs plus any soft costs.
b) Housing Rehab which requires the whole house be looked at and brought up to code under this program. Work may include such items as: siding, removal/treatment of lead based paint, insulation, roofing, windows, well, septic, electrical, plumbing, etc. The maximum project cost is $40,000 which includes repairs plus any soft costs. Housing Rehab loans are deferred loans (no monthly payments) with some forgiveness of loan balance over a period of time.
Homeowners must meet certain requirements for either program including: income eligibility of 80% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI), occupy the home as their residence, and agree to a lien (mortgage) on the property.
