The Leelanau County Recycling Site located at the Suttons Bay Public School CLOSED, effective October 19, 2021.  The recycling containers have been removed.

No materials are to be left at this site once it is closed.

The Leelanau County Solid Waste Council is looking for a new location and appreciates any suggestions for a
new recycling site. Call 256-9812 or email planning@leelanau.gov

Leelanau County households can utilize any of the other recycling locations, open 24 hours / 7 days.  The nearest location to Suttons Bay is the site in Peshawbestown, just north of the gas station.

Let's continue to keep our Earth clean by recycling properly. Hazardous waste such as batteries, oil, electronics, etc. do not belong in the garbage or your local recycling site. To properly dispose such items and more, contact the Planning Department for an appointment for 2022 collections. Collections are for Leelanau County Households only and by appointment. Costs for these collections are covered under P.A. 69 of 2005 - a charge placed on Winter Tax Bills.

For more information, questions and/or to schedule an appointment for a future Household Hazardous Waste, Electronic and Document Shredding collection call (231) 256-9812 or email planning@leelanau.gov
