The Leelanau County Board of Commissioners during its September 21, 2022, Regular Session, approved Leelanau County Resolution #2022-010, "A Resolution to Recognize the First Day of October as Indigenous Peoples Day."

The next community blood drive hosted by the League of Women Voters of Leelanau County is slated for Wednesday, October 12, from 1:00-5:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room of the Leelanau County Government Center.

All attempting donors receive a limited-edition Versiti bottle koozie, sticker and coupon for a free pint or beverage from partnering locations, while supplies last.

October 14 from 9 am to 2:30 pm at Traverse Bay Area Career Tech Center - 880 Parsons Rd., Traverse City.

FREE recycling collection of old or unwanted large agricultural and tractor tires.  40 tire max per producer. ONLY tires from large equipment and tractors for agricultural production will be accepted.

The last Household Hazardous Waste (HHW), electronics, and document shredding collection for 2022 for Leelanau County households will be held on Saturday, October 15 in Elmwood Township.

The recycling site located in the unincorporated village of Leland HAS CLOSED.

Leelanau County households can use any of the other recycling sites within the county for recycling their household items.  The closest recycling site to Leland is located at the Leelanau County Government Center, just east of Lake Leelanau off of M-204 at 8527 E. Government Center Dr., Suttons Bay.
